When will Apple fix the bug in the El Capitan software that randomly restarts my computer?

This never happened when the software was named after some animal. All of a sudden my computer automatically turns off. I've been sending in a massive amount of "Send Reports" to Apple to no avail. It may have something to do with the graphics card, but I am not sure where to start. The mac is mid 2010 model. Apple better have a good excuse for this faulty software.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), FIX IT

This "GPU Panic: [<None>] 3 3 7f 0 0 0 0 3 : NVRM[0/1:0:0]: Read Error " indicates a problem with the graphics unit in the MacBook.

Could be this problem:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) intermittent black screen or loss of video Quality Program has ended - Apple Support

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to discuss your options. Likely not worth getting it fixed since the Mac is about 5-6 years old.

If the OP is using the Apple Mouse (originally called the Magic Mouse) you can get bogus reports that really have something to do with the mouse.

99.9% of the time I use a WACOM pen pad -- even on this site - anyway - with a brand new (mean I just purchased it vs really made this year) mouse -- and the wacom software un-installed -- certain mouse moves particularly moving a window to the left caused the desktop to freeze up -- GPU and kernal errors showed up along with Finder memory leak. While I was still using Safari - I did get some restarts - guessing at this point - it was the mouse.

Anyway - stopped using the mouse - pen pad only (reinstalled software) no problems.

Apple ran a substantial recall program for this model MacBook Pro. Some graphics chips were found to have a Latent Defect -- a Hardware problem that was there from the first day it was built, but sometimes did not show itself until later version of Mac OS were installed.

This is not a software or a mouse issue. The Magic Mouse is not a typical add-on when the built-in Trackpad already does the same function and is completely portable. The panic report does not appear to show the Magic Mouse as a peripheral.

I mention the mouse because some people prefer to use an external mouse to a track pad - same is true for external keyboard to lap top keyboard (its why docking ports exist).

The track pad functions the same way that the pen pad does - in that you are lifting your finger, or the pen off of its surface - as opposed to sliding the mouse to the next point. Stumbled across some posts on this site mentioning problems with the mouse-going back to the pen - solved the problem.

I had the same problem for months ...

Macbook Pro 2010 6.2

3 days ago, by doing some research again, i installed this: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/102822/en-us

and that : http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

After installation, select "Web Nvidia driver" in the Nvidia icon in the menu bar.

I know these drivers are not supposed to be compatible with the GeForce GT330M and yet, since, no more problem.

(Fingers crossed)

Maybe you can try too...
