Mid-2010 15" MACBOOKPRO refurbishing advice

I got a brand-new MacBookPro and not sure what to do with my old one. I suppose I could sell it if my drug dealer wants to get paid sooner than expected but for now, I'm keeping it. Love having two screens on my desk, makes me feel important. Plus I've hardly used the keyboard, being that I kept this Mac on an M stand and used a magic mouse and magic keyboard. So the Mac still looks pretty sweet.

What can I do to refurb my older macbookpro?

I've attached screenshots that show the specs.

I guess the first thing would be a SSD HD? Keeping in mind that I will be changing the parts myself (and I'm not particularly tech-savvy) can you recommend a specific HD? Also, can any other parts be replaced, like the graphics card?

Thanks a lot!

A 2010 MBP will accept up to 8 GB RAM. That will help especially if you are running an OSX 10.9 or newer.

If the bank account is fat, install a SSD. Even though the 2010 MBP has SATA2 connectivity, current SSDs are backwards compatible. You will not obtain maximum performance from them, but it still will become a much faster performer.

For both RAM and SSDs, OWC and Crucial are my recommendations based on personal experience and reputation.

Ciao.

This can help you decide if you want to take on the work yourself.

Neither adding RAM nor uprating the hard drive is especially difficult. The one touchy bit is making sure you transfer the old OS and other info from the old drive to the new one.
