Iphone doesnt charge when Smart Battery is charging

Not sure what happened and when but I noticed the smart battery is the only one charging when connected to charging station/port. When I disconnect the phone from the charging station is when the smart battery starts to charge the iphone? I seem to recall both phone and smart battery charging at the same time prior. Is this a settings issue?
