Copied images are inverted white to black since the update to El Capitan - any ideas as to how to switch back?

Since I updated to El Capitan I have trouble with copied images that are black on white background being pasted inverted - white on black background. Didn't happen before and I would like to have the images paster as the original.

I suspect this is to simplistic of an interpretation of your question. since I do not fully grock the problem.

You can change the surrounding back ground color in Preview:

I do know tiff files have always been a problem in web design and interface issues. As well gif give me a problem on my own computer.

Have you tried changing the format of these images in order to gain some control?

I have found if I take a screen shot of the image - that works just fine - but I lose a little of the resolution and also need to take a couple of tries to get all I wanted. I even tried to paste into Pages and that turned from white to a black image also.

Instead, save the image as PNG and see if copying that still shows the problem.

Where did you get the tiff form? Does it have an alpha channel in it? Tiff files with alpha channels don't work in many apps including Preview and Powerpoint, at least not for me.

Convert the tiff files to jpeg and they can be added to PowerPoint. I was able to do the conversion with GraphicConverter, Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. I'm sure there are other image editors that can handle the file.

EDIT:

Opps. Missed you post regarding converting to png. 😟

I am copying a TIF file using Preview. Selecting a portion and inserting that into a PowerPoint slide. Even in Finder the small preview window shows a black background but using the "Preview" program it is has a white background until I copy and paste - then it is a black background and white lettering. Black and white are reversed. I have been looking for a setting to change but can't find one!??

Not familiar with "Etrecheck" - but I would have very little added to this computer.

Etrecheck is a little utility by one major contributor in these forums. Its report tells us about the hardware and software on the computer.

In many circumstances it has helped solve problems. As it turns out, many of the problems people have experienced in EC come down to software incompatibilities from programs that were not updated; antivirus; and "cleaner" programs. From the Etrecheck report these usually become apparent.
