Q: I cannot log off of iCloud

Hi,

I changed the email address for my iCloud account as my email account is hacked and i cannot reach it anymore. I changed my apple id with a new address but now cannot log off iCloud. It asks for the info for the old email address.

One of the recommendations was to change back to my old email address as my id temporarily but i have mo reach to that e-mail and any verification emails cannot be answered by me.

I am in and endless loop here. How can I log off or totally delete the iCloud?

iPhone 5, iOS 9.3.2

Call Apple Support. You can't fix this without calling.

Like you, I changed the email address associated with my Apple ID because I didn't use it anymore. I've spent the better part of the last hour fighting with how to log out of iCloud because it still showed the old email address.

So I first went to iTunes & App Store and just logged out of my account (which shows the correct and current email address). Once I did that, *then* I went to iCloud and said "Sign Out"

When I logged back into iTunes, I then went to iCloud and logged in with the new information.

I'd love to hear if this worked for you because it would save a *lot* of people a *lot* of headache.

*If* you simply changed the email address associated with your Apple ID, all Apple services *should* recognize the current password with the "old" Apple ID when signing out. The system is designed to do this.

The Apple ID has not changed, just the "friendly" name it was known by.

If my name is Bob John Smith and I am known in my community as Bob... asking to be now known as John does not change who I am. Just how you refer to me.

Having said that... you can't toggle back and forth between email addresses for signing in and out. It isn't an alias moving forward. Just for the purposes of signing out if signed in with the "old" email address.
