Go to Finder > Preferences then select the General tab then make sure: CD's & DVD's & iPods is selected.
Then insert a disc.
When the disc loads you'll see the icon on your Desktop. Double click that icon.
Hello Carolyn:
I did as you suggested and the disc icon appeared in desktop.
When I clicked on it there were no instructions as to how to burn a Power Point file to the disc.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Bob
If I understand correctly you want to burn a PowerPoint file to a CD or DVD? Is that correct?
Are you inserting a blank CD or DVD?
Hello Duane:
The disc is a DVD-R
Thanks
Which iMac do you have?
What version of Mac OS X are you using?
OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.5

Hello:
When I insert a disc ,the disc only sometimes shows up on Desktop.
Ejected disc--reinserted disc
Tried what you said. Nothing happened.
After finally getting Desktop to recognize disc, I went onto Finder and clicked on Power point file that I parked in Desktop and clicked on Burn (which was finally highlighted)---previously "Burn" option would not execute, and was able to Copy fPP to disc.
Whew.
Carolyn, Duane Toad--thanks for your help.
