Try resetting your network settings. You'll have to re-enter your network passwords afterwards.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Since it is occurring on both the iPhone and the iPad try rebooting the printer. Also check if there is a newer firmware from HP for that printer.

Thanks for the suggestions but it didn't work. All four devices had system updates and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

It seems that way since it happened on four devices that were working fine before. I suspect that the software on the HP has a conflict with the new iOS. I would try contacting HP and ask them if they have seen this issue.

Is it safe to assume this printer has been wirelessly networked and has AirPrint enabled? Did you set up the router and network yourself?

Here are some scenarios and their fixes.

The IP address of the printer may have changed. Identify the IP address and then put it in a browser (Safari). Somewhere in the settings, it will ask for the Bonjour address. This is the same as the IP address. Make sure they match and AirPrint is enabled.

If you recently set up a new computer on the network, printer sharing may not be enabled. Go to the Control Panel or System Preferences on the computer. Track down Printer preferences. Click on the printer. View Options or Advanced Settings. Make sure Printer Sharing is enabled.

See if the actual printer needs a firmware update, too.

Reset the modem and router by unplugging both.

With more information, I may be able to make additional suggestions if these don't work.
