Q: 2 iPods won't connect to certain wifi network

This morning my two iPod touch 5's wifi stopped working, I tried unplugging and plugging back in the router and nothing happened. I didn't think much of it and I thought that my wifi would be working again when I got home. I was able to connect to my school's wifi so I thought I would be able to connect to my home's wifi when I got back. When I got home I realized that the computers, iPhone, iPad mini, iPad, game consoles were all still connected to wifi but I was unable to connect my 2 iPods. I found this very strange and I tried out a few things to attempt to fix it. I updated the IOS through iTunes on my laptop. I reset the network settings. I unplugged my router for 5-15 minutes multiple times. I powered off the iPods before and after updating the IOS. I made sure to type the password as well.

Why won't these iPods connect to my home network, but still connect to other networks and all of my other devices are connected fine? It would be greatly appreciated if somebody could help me out on this. I would like to know if there is any other way of fixing this than resetting it because I know from experience I can lose some valuable progress in the iPod even if I backup the iPod

Thank you,

(iPod touch 5, IOS 9.3.2)

It appears that your router is connected to multiple devices. Have you tried the following steps:

    1. Go to settings>wifi.
    2. Turn off WiFi and turn it back on.
    3. Restart the router without unplugging it. Press the power button on your router.
    4. When the router is done restarting, wait for at least 5 minutes for all your devices to connect.
    5. Your iPods are included.
    6. If still not successful, try restarting your iPods.
    7. Make sure you are typing the WiFi password correctly.

    Good luck!

May I ask why you have 2 iPods? Just curious.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.

Does the iOS device see the network?

    Any error messages?

    Do other devices now connect?

Did the iOS device connect before?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    - Power off and then back on your router

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

    - Restore from backup. See:

    iOS: How to back up

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204184

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Thanks Hamoud. The OP was written by one of my sons. He and his brother each have an iPod, which both had the problem at about the same time.

Issue resolved. Needed to reset our router to "factory settings" and set up our wifi network again.
