How much RAM does my MacBook Pro support?

Hello fellow Mac users,

I want to upgrade my MacBook Pro but I'm not sure how much RAM slots it has and how much and what type of RAM it supports.

Could anyone point me out?

A model 8,1 MBP will accept up to 16 GB RAM (Apple only tested for 8 GB RAM prior to introduction) with the following specifications: 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.

The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

Thanks for the info.

I bought 2x 4 GB Corsair RAM with the 204-pin, 1333 MHz and SO-DIMM specifications, I also read that the RAM timings are important for Apple and the rest shouldn't really matter. I will let you know if it works!

Which is why the quickest way to ensure compatibility is to look for Mac certification in the documentation. My Late 2011 15" MBP, which uses the same kind of RAM, has had these on since I bought it a month after launch. No issues, ever.
