May 25, 2016 10:06 AM in response to weegee's_boredby Skydiver119,Upload to where? That is what will determine if you do them as a batch. For example Flickr allows you to upload hundreds of photos at once.
Maybe some more details would be helpful in finding an answer

May 25, 2016 4:12 PM in response to Skydiver119by weegee's_bored,I really want to get them to someplace where they'll be safe. I had an extensive photo library (music too) on a MacBook that was destroyed. I thought it was backed up to the cloud but apparently it wasn't. I DID save everything to an iPad, but I want to get the pics to a safer platform.

May 25, 2016 4:27 PM in response to weegee's_boredby elcpu,The best backup of your photos is to import them to a computer AND then backup the computer to an external hard drive. That way no matter what happens to the computer or iPad you have second backup. That's what I do. iCloud Photo Library is good for syncing photos across devices but it is not what I would recommend for a secure backup.

May 25, 2016 4:36 PM in response to elcpuby weegee's_bored,I think that's what I'll do. Costco sells a 1.5TB hard drive for $150.

May 25, 2016 4:59 PM in response to weegee's_boredby weegee's_bored,Actually, though, I have to get the photos from the iPad to the new laptop (PC). My thought was to upload them to the Cloud and from the Cloud download them to the new laptop. And then to an external hard drive.

May 25, 2016 5:19 PM in response to weegee's_boredby elcpu,You would be better of importing the photos directly from the iPad to the PC. Look at the section in importing to PC:
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Also FWIW Amazon sells 1TB drives for about $60-70. Once the photos are on the PC copying them to the external drive is fast and easy.
