Q: Icloud photo sharing vids

I shared my videos in the icloud photo sharing in hopes that if a deleted them from my actual camera roll it would save storage space but now i can't save them to my camera roll the only option is to delete the video or like it. Anyone know how to get them back? Please help.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

iOS devices cannot download Cloud videos (too large a file).

You need a Mac or PC to do that. If you use a Mac they should appear in a Shared Project. in Photos.

If you put the videos into a Shared Photo Stream, they will be reduced resolution from the original copies.  You can save them as noted above by using a computer to go to your iCloud.com account, but they will not be the original resolution.

Did you look in your "Recently Deleted" Album on your iPhone?  Deleted items remain there for 30 days.  Perhaps you can recover the original resolution copies from there.

    That's right.

You will not have original resolution if they were in a Photo Stream.

If they were part of the original iCloud Photo Library then you will have the originals.

I suspect you did the latter because you put them into a Shared Album (due to the capacity to "Like"), so get them to your Mac using Photos.

    If they have a Mac

Also, to reiterate ... check "Recently Deleted" on the iPhone first.

The Photo Stream does not "do" video. That would be the Photo Library and I don't think it streams video. Just download and view.

Shared Photo Streams support video just fine, I have many.

Just to be clear and up to date... those are now part of iCloud Photo sharing and called Shared Albums which can have video. The Photo Stream is now something else. I know lots of folks still call them streams.

Videos are capped at 720p and can only be 5 minutes long.

Not everyone uses iCloud Photo Library, and for those folks "My Photo Stream" and "Shared Photo Streams" are indeed alive and well, using that same terminology, and potentially creating these exact symptoms posted by the OP if they put a video in a Shared Stream and then delete the video from their Camera Roll to save space (yes, that is possible to do, but not with iCloud Photo Stream).

We don't know for sure what configuration the OP is using, but consider their stated problem:  They put video into "the cloud sharing" and they mention not being able to put them back into "camera roll".  That to me sounds like they're not using iCloud Photo Stream, since if they were using iCloud Photo Library and the videos were in a "Shared Album" then (a) there would be no Camera Roll, and (b) the video content would exist in more places than the Shared Album -- you cannot delete from one category but not others when you have iCloud Photo Library enabled.
