Error Setting Up iCloud... NEW MACBOOK

Hey guys!

I recently picked up a new Macbook Pro. I was setting it all up and I came upon the SIGN IN WITH YOUR APPLE ID page. I proceeded to sign in, when I got an error message

"Error setting up iCloud"

"An error occurred trying to set up iCloud on your mac. please try signing in again"

I tried again and nothing worked.

I had same problem. I skipped the I cloud setup after getting error message, allowed mac to finish setup. Then was prompted to sign in with Apple ID for iCloud after mac was finished setting up and it worked.

It might be two-factor authentication. If you're reading this, then it's too late, but if I had recorded the 6-digit code when I signed in I would have added it to my password. For example

1. Receive prompt for two-factor authentication as ######

2. Write down the code

3. Enter creditials as [username] and [password######]

4. It might work?

It's too late now, I went ahead and skipped the iCloud registering thing during macbook setup and just did it after the setup process, which worked fine.
