Q: Are iDevices linked to the first iCloud account used?

If I delete the current iCloud account (my father's) on my iPhone and use my own, and I wanted to update said iPhone, which account will I be asked to use after the update mine or my father's? If I delete his account and use mine will it be as good as new?
