Stabilization repeats Dominant Motion Analysis multiple times

I am running FCPX 10.2.3 under OS 10.11.5.

I have a seven minute project and am attempting to apply Stabilization to a clip that is under a minute and a half. The “Dominant Motion Analysis” of that short clip repeats over and over and over. It gets to 100% and then appears to begin all over again. After a couple hours of this, I gave up.

I have Automatic Rendering turned off. Even after manually running Render All, however, the orange line continues to show above the clip and does not change after multiple runs of Dominant Motion Analysis.

I am not very knowledgeable about Stabilization, but I have read that Dominant Motion Analysis is only supposed to run once.

I don't use stabilization often (I slog along a tripod). This might work, though; it's a workflow leftover from the olden days: Bring your clip into its own, separate project. Trim the clip to only the part you want to use plus a second of handles. Stabilize. Share the project as a master file, this will bake in the stabilization. Import the movie as a stabilized clip.
