Q: Boot Camp/Disk Partition Issue

Hello All,

I don't normally like to create posts like this for fear of duplicating questions, but after what I felt ample amount of time researching on my own I found little to no help. If my question has been addressed and answered elsewhere, please feel free to point me in the right direction.

Otherwise:

I've been trying to put Windows 7 on my Mid '14 MacBook Pro, and after going through the process I found myself unable to use my mouse and keyboard in Windows. Upon researching I found I was to try again, so I attempted to use Boot Camp Utility to delete my Windows Partition and start over. However, I was greeted with an error saying my deletion was unsuccessful. Now, my solid state looks something like this:

and my "Macintosh HD" partition looks like this:

How can I go about restoring that extra space on my hard drive to my Mac partition so I can start again?
When I run First Aid on both option, it runs smoothly and says there are no errors. When I click partition on the drive, no other partitions appear and when I try to set the Macintosh HD partition to the full size, I get an error about the size not being correct.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, everyone!

    Hello there, NDA-Z.

It sounds like you're trying to restore the space created by Bootcamp for your Windows partition on your MacBook Pro. To accomplish that, you must follow some specific steps, outlined in the following Knowledge Base article:

Set up a Windows partition on your Mac

    Modify the Windows partition

Remove the partition, change its size, or change its name.

    Remove the partition

Use Boot Camp Assistant to safely remove Windows and the Windows partition from your Mac, restoring your startup drive to a single Mac partition. You may want to back up your information first, because removing the partition erases all of the data it contains.

    1. Open Boot Camp Assistant.
    2. Select “Remove Windows 7 or later version," then click Continue.
    3. Do one of the following:
      • If your Mac has a single internal disk, click Restore.
      • If your Mac has multiple internal disks, select the Windows disk, select “Restore disk to a single OS X partition,” then click Continue.

Change the size of the partition

It's not possible to change the size of the partition after installing Windows, but you can remove the partition and create a new partition of the correct size. Don't try to resize your partition with Windows or a third-party app.

There are two ways to fix the issue.

    1. Run a TM Backup/erase/restore. If you need detailed steps, please see failed windows 8.1 installation through bootcamp as an example.

    2. Repair the disk, using OS X Terminal and diskutil commands.

We should look at your CS volume state. Please post the output of the following Terminal command.
