is there a way how to use the apps that my iPhone and iPad in my mac?

I'm new to Mac and i want to use the apps that I used in my iPad to make my work productivity better. My questions is how do I use this apps in my Mac or do i need to purchase new apps for my mac some of this apps i have purchased. Please help.
