Q: Apple ID Hacked. How to turn off Find my Phone

Yesterday my gmail, facebook and Apple ID was hacked.

I managed to recover my Apple ID and change my email and password.

However, I am now trying to sign out of my iCloud on my phone but I need to enter the old password (that has been hacked) to turn off 'Find my iPhone' before being able to sign out / delete the old account.

Is there a way around this or do I need to restore my iPhone to factory settings? I have an iPhone 5c.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

iPhone 5c, iOS 9.2

    Hi hmumford,

The password on your phone is unlikely to have changed automatically so it will be whatever your Apple iD password was before your account got hacked, have you tried entering that password?

    Hi RJTUK,

Thanks for your speedy response, I have tried my password and several other passwords I have used before but to no avail!

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks,

Best advice I can give is to connect the phone to a computer and perform a backup using iTunes, then log in to www.icloud.com and send the remote wipe command from the Find My iPhone app, it should reset the phone and once that reset is complete the device will ask you to log in using your Apple iD which should take the new password.

As Csound has mentioned below, take it to an Apple Store with proof that you own the phone, they should be able to do this if you can log into your Apple iD at the store and if the device is registered to your Apple iD.

Let us know how you get on.

It will not fix the problem, it will still be locked.

Take it to an Apple Store with proof that it is yours and ask them.
