Magic Mouse 2 only connects with basic functions

I bought a new magic mouse 2 as the 5 year old one packed up and thought the recharge option better than replacing batteries. It connects to her macbook with bluetooth fine but only has the basic move and single click functions, mouse properties only shows basic none of the magic mouse functions. I connect to my macbook and everything is fine, swipe, double tap etc. Question is how do I get it to work on the other macbook when her old mouse worked fine before it broke.

Is the other Macbook on El Capitan, the Magic Mouse 2 is only compatible with El Capitan and beyond.

- If you do not have a backup use disk utility to restore the internal disk to an external disk so you can try to recover data.

Then format the startup disk and do a fresh install of OSX

you are correct I didn't think it would matter as the magic mouse worked but not the magic mouse 2. They should put it on the box the requirements. Had it sorted by Apple online despite age of computer.

Just what did Apple on-line say?

The Apple page just says for the Magic Mouse 2 El Capitan and Bluetooth.

For the Magic trackpad 2 you also need El Capitan but also Bluetooth 4.0 which your Mac is too old to have

its the Capitan it needs as it still has Josamite, The other of the same age had been updated and works fine with that so updating the other tomorrow as she is busy working with it.

Magic mouse 2 will ONLY function properly with El Capitan. It says that very clearly on the box. Can I repeat the first sentence. "Requires bluetooth enabled Mac with OSX 10.11 or later.' There are no ifs or buts.
