Q: Serial adapter to USB-C compatibility?

Can anyone confirm compatibility of USB to serial adapters known good with other Macs and a 12" MacBook?

I'm not asking about universal serial bus (USB) but a serial cable for 9600, 8, N, 1 connections to network and industrial equipment console ports.

I use a TRENDnet TU-S9 with my Retina 15 or Air 13 via VMware Fusion and a Windows VM.

Thank you.

FYI for any IT pros or technicians with these needs.

I brought a MacBook home and a Windows 10 VM sees the TRENDnet TU-S9 plugged in the USB-C dongle or mini dock loaded drivers, and it's there as COM3 just as it is with the native USB ports on my Air and Retina 15 laptops.

That could make the MacBook a keeper.

I answered there is compatibility or at least for the particular serial adapter I mentioned. The Apple Store sales and "Genius" people were all unfamiliar with COM ports, IRQs and this need for controlling devices with a serial console port. My response might have been worded poorly but was intended to say the MacBook and USB-C would probably work for a technician or administrator.

Although I do not have an answer for , there is no "invalid question type" here.
