May 27, 2016 1:21 AM in response to mauimoodby lllaass,Just resync the songs to the iPod.
Could it be that the iPod say the computer as a new computer?
If so then the iPod gets erased and music form the "new" computer gets synced to the iPod

May 27, 2016 12:28 PM in response to lllaassby mauimood,Thanks for answering. It's not a new computer. A lot of my playlists were only on the ipod and I was hoping that I didn't have to reselect/sync the songs from the way bigger list that's in my iturnes library.

May 27, 2016 12:34 PM in response to mauimoodby lllaass,Sometimes a computer glitch will make the iPod see the computer as a new computer.
An iPod is not a storage device for media, like songs, that are not also stored elsewhere since glitches do happen.
One should also have a backup. that is stuff should be on your computer as well as in a separated backup

May 27, 2016 12:36 PM in response to mauimoodby turingtest2,See Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy for a suggested backup method.
If you sync your device with selected playlists then your library always has all the content you might want to restore to the device.

May 27, 2016 12:42 PM in response to lllaassby mauimood,Thanks. I do have a cloud backup of the music, but not the playlists. This will be a good opporturnity to get rid of some of the music I no longer want. There was a suggestion that I synch playlists, so I'll be sure and do that next.

May 27, 2016 12:50 PM in response to mauimoodby turingtest2,Playlists are stored in the iTunes Library.itl file and/or on your device. If you manually manage the device then lists you make on it don't sync back to the library.
