Q: My photos randomly disappeared from my iPhone 6 but it still shows that the data amount is still on the phone. How do I get the pictures back?

I recently bought an iPad I was doing some stuff on in over the last 2 days and nothing changed on my phone. I went to use my phone and look for a photo I had taken in the past few days and realized all but a few pictures were gone. I'm talking like close to 300 pictured gone and 15 left. Now in my phone storage and stuff it says I have a lot of data used with pictured so it still has them on the phone some place (including the picture I have on my home screen) it doesn't even show up as one of the 15 pictures that's left but it's still on the home screen. I have no idea how to get them back and I can't find a way to restore it from the last back up. Another problem is iv never plugged it into a computer, at the time I got my phone over a year ago I didn't see the need to. Would appreciate and help!

    Hi,

I found that for a long time I only used the "My Photo Stream" on my Mac and iPhone.

It got to the point though that I was talking more photos at some points that could be synced across the devices.

I bought some storage on iCloud and changed the Mac to "iCloud Photo Library.

This seems to make all the Photo Stream ones disappear and leave you with only those you have recently taken on that device.

First go to your Photos App, click on Albums and look at the Recently Deleted Album. Are your photos there? If so move them back.

Secondly the photo that you use on the home screen was on your phone at one time but if you deleted it, the image on the home screen stays as it is cached.

Do you have iCloud Photo Library enabled? If so and you delete a photo in one device it will delete them in all. Please see these FAQs. I cannot tell you how many people I have responded to here on the ASC who lost their pictures as a result of not fully understanding how iCPL works. It is not a true cloud storage like Dropbox.

    Thanks.

This was in iChat and what I posted was the extent of my knowledge.
