OS X 10.11.5 - wi-fi printing/scanning

It seems with 10.11.5 wi-fi connectivity to my Brother HL-L2380DW *SCANNING FUNCTION* has been totally blown out of the water. Yes, I have all the latest drivers and firmware and so on. I've deleted and reinstalled from scratch all the necessary drivers and software, it is simply a no-go.

My question: I am looking for a scanner that WILL work with 10.11.5 with a wi-fi connection. Is there such a beast anymore, or is scanning a document over wi-fi a thing of the past? With 10.11.5 did Apple just take a giant leap backwards in regards to wireless document scanning?
