Can you connect an iPhone or iPad to wired Printer?

Is it possible to connect an iPhone or iPad 4 mini to a wired printer? I am hoping use this brother printer ( http://www.brother-usa.com/Printer/ModelDetail/1/HLL2300D/spec ) at a location that will NOT have wifi. If I use a lightening to USB connecter to the USB cord that connects to the printer will it work?
