May 27, 2016 11:17 AM in response to applerancherby mende1,Do you have a second-hand Mac? If so, that could be the issue. Your Mac is still linked to the previous owner's Apple ID and you cannot update or reinstall any of the iLife apps (iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand) that came with the Mac.
If it is a new or refurbished Mac, maybe those apps are listed as hidden purchases in your Apple ID, so try unhiding them -> Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
