How to pause a slide in keynote on an ipad on a ATV

I have a Keynote presentation playing on a loop on an Apple TV using Airplay. Looks great but I can't seem to pause on certain slides. I'd like to be able to pause on a slide then have the loop continue when I am ready. Is there a tap/gesture/swipe/? to make this happen? So far all I see is a pinch to stop the presentation. I don't want it to stop, just to pause and then continue on when I am ready or to just keeping playing all the way through if I don't need to stop on a particular slide.
