How to import photos and folders into Photos

Basically you can drag the folders with the photos directly into the Photos window or onto the Photos icon in the Dock.

Or use the command "File > Import" and select the the folder in the File Chooser panel.

The Photos will appear in the Last Import album. And Photos will warn about potential duplicates.


But if you want to create albums corresponding to folders in the Finder, use an Apple Script. Photos does not support to map the folder structure in the finder to albums. See this User Tip:
