Latest iOS blocked my messages from Androids

SSince the latest iOS update, messages will no longer go from my iPad Air II to an Android device. They have for well over a year and a half. Not any more. Calling support does no good. At Apple support the "Senior Advisors" just do not acknowledge that is possible, or they have been told to ignore the problem. On a two year older iPad I can still text Android devices. I can prove that it worked through the end of April, because of retained messages. Absolutely no help from Apple.

On your iPad Air 2, do you have iMessages activated? If so turn it off and try again.

Settings > Messages > iMessages to OFF.

Your iPad is not a cellular telephone. It has never had the ability to send/receive SMS text messages on its own.

It can, however, send and receive SMS text messages in conjunction with an iPhone which is using the same Apple ID.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and make sure your iPad is enabled there.
