Q: A Problem When Merging Aperture Libraries

I am trying to merge two Aperture 3.6 libraries to prepare them for the migration to Photos for Mac.

The Merge/Add prompt does not appear, and no images are merged into the first library.

I tried to force the Merge/Add prompt to appear by importing a duplicate photo, but that did not help.

I also tried alredy to repair and rebuild both libraries.

Still the merge does not work.

What to try next?

Aperture 3, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), Aperture 3.6

So this old bug is still around?

You have already tried most of the known work.arounds.

Since repairing and rebuilding did not help,

    • Back up all libraries before you proceed.
    • Create a new, empty library and merge the first library into this empty library.
    • Create a second, empty library and merge the second library into this empty library.
    • Then merge these new versions of the library.

    Added:

Make sure, you have plenty of free storage on the drive with your Aperture Libraries.  Merging will need temporarily much more storage than the combined size of the merged libraries.

Thank you!  I started the merge into the first empty library, and it looks like it will take all night.

I'll let you know what happens.
