Q: iBooks with iCloud on Mac, iPhone, iPad

I recently switched on iCloud for iBooks on my Mac mini, on my iPhone 5S, and on my iPad mini 1st gen.

After some back and forth, I was able to delete all books and PDFs on my iPhone and iPad, organizing everything onto my Mac, and now being able to download anything onto my iPhone as needed. Books or PDFs. I can see everything there that I have on my Mac (as well as on iCloud). That's how it should work I suppose.

The issue remaining is my old iPad mini though. Bookmarks, Notes, and Collections sync perfectly also onto the iPad. Settings with iCloud > iCloud Drive > iBooks is on and I have accepted the dialog to use iCloud for iBooks.

Opening iBooks (without any books or PDFs in there) shows me nothing or the Apple purchased books only - depending on the Hide iCloud Books toggle - all the PDFs or third party books do not show up. The app crashes after around 2 minutes.

Does anyone know how I could reset iBooks? If I were able to delete the app, I would do so and re-install... any ideas?
