Is there a way to auto-fill ID3 Tags?

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question (if you want to skip the backstory just look below this paragraph haha), I'm having a major spring-clean of my iTunes - deleted a load of albums, imported a load of albums from a previous library etc etc. Now, when I started creating my library around 12 years or so ago I made a massive boo-boo by not filling in all the tags. It's fine for the purchases I've made from iTunes, as the composer, year, etc is all filled in. However, what I want to know is -

Is there an app/script that will search or auto-fill the tags that are missing? My artist/album artist/album is usually filled in fine, as well as artwork (most of the time I've replaced that with my own anyway). Realistically, I'd like albums to have their complete info (like composer and year) - but I'm struggling to find an app that does the searching too. (I'd do it myself, but I have a library of in excess of 20,000 songs!)

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

(again, I know it's my own silly fault for not doing it at the time of importing my CDs!)

IMAC (RETINA 5K, 27-INCH, MID 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

iTunes 12 for Mac: If you don’t see song information - https://support.apple.com/kb/PH19609

I don't have an iTunes Store account and I don't know if for the details you desire if that is even in the Gradenote database. There are other identification services such as FreeDB and many free tools such as XLD utilitize those instead, I just don't know if they include the details you want. I, for example, also like having the album identifier code in my database but I just spend spare time searching for this and adding it to my thousands of tracks.

Thanks for the response!

Yeah, this is the difficulty I'm having - I had a complete ka-put Hard Drive in my old mac, and I'm having to rebuild from various hard drives and back ups on my new one (and of course, my new iMac doesn't have a CD drive - so the grace note option is out of the window - or as far as I can tell!). Similarly, I've just checked the FreeDB and that's not really what I'm needing either 😟

It would be ideal if there was an app which basically pulled the information from the iTunes store and added it to the files, but so far no luck for the 'secondary' tags 😟

I may just have to remove the composer tag from my iTunes windows altogether and stop being so finicky with every detail haha.
