Q: If "purchases" expires, why buy them?! Does anyone know if books, music & videos I "purchase" on Amazon expire also?

If iTunes "purchases" expire, why buy them?! (I thought that's what "rental" was about.) Does anyone know if books, music & videos I "purchase" on Amazon expire also? Thx
