Apple Watch activity rings don't sync with Apple Health

as the subject states. Is there a fix coming for this bug?

for example when I'm moving my lawn wearing my apple watch doesnt seem like the bet of ideas. After a couple of hours I take up a few thousand steps on my iPhone which is in my pocket, when Im finished i put my watch on and steps on the fitness rings show up at 0....

really messes sees up weekly activity tracker and since I do a lot of physical work outdoors during the weekend were talking 15,000-20,000 steps discrepency on the low end over the 3 day period.

when my Apple Watch gives me a weekly summary on Monday, it's not useful in any degree since it's usually 10-15 miles off.

I would like an accurate count and a good sync between devices on the same ecosystem...seems weird to me. The whole point of staying with the same ecosystem is that it syncs seamlessl.

just frustrated. was excited at first about the watch, but I probably better off getting a fitness tracker, since that is 80% of my wearable need

Carolyn, thank you for trying, but those links don't have anything to do with my issue, unfortunately.

Apple Watch tracking itself is fine, it doesn't need any calibration.

What I am saying is that it does NOT sync with Apple Health at all. If I go mow my lawn, without wearing my watch (wayyy too much dirt and grime), with my iPhone in my pocket, listening to an audiobook my iPhone will track my activity and count my steps.

When I get back inside and put my watch on, the fitness rings will show me at 0 steps. It will NOT sync with what the iPhone has actually counted during the time I did not have my Watch on.

So essentially what is happening is watch and iphone are counting their own steps and not syncing with one another, UNLESS both are in proximity to one another. Which really renders watch useless for fitness tracking...I cant be wearing it ALL day long. There will be times when I forget it at home, or simply not be wearing it. Why wouldn't it sync with my iPhone that I did have on me...its the same ecosystem.

Hi

That is the expected behaviour.

Health and fitness data from Apple Watch, iPhone and any other potential separate sources is shared to and aggregated by the Health app on your iPhone. When presenting data within charts (which can be added to the customisable Dashboard tab), the Health app adjusts results to avoid any double counting of data from different sources.
