Q: Sudden display error / defect of new MacBook 2016 (magenta and cyan lines)

Has anyone had a similar problem with the macbook? The crazy jumping lines came out of no where and stay even after a reboot. The error seems to be a hardware problem, since even at the boot screen there are lines all over the display. (See attached pictures)

(i think it's a problem with the display. If I take screenshot the picture Lookes fine. So probably no main board/GPU problem)

The macbook is brand new (not even two weeks old). No drop or similar... I'm treating it (as usual with new toys) like a raw egg!

Of course I can just go to apple I guess and replace it with a new one (which would be unfortunate since I just finished the whole setup with my programs and so)... But I'm just curious what the cause of this was/is...

Update: got the macbook replaced without problems. Was a loose connection at the display. At first the error disappeared, but a slight bend of the display (by the apple genius let the defect appear again.

He said he hasn't seen this problem before, but I guess it can happen in rare occasions also at a factory new model.
