There is a 'bug' in the program that produces that display.  It should not be relied on.  Sometimes, not always, a Spotlight reindex will correct it:

For accurate information,  download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes.

    It's really strange. CleanMyMac says that there's 54 GB free. But OmniDiskSweeper says that there's only 25 GB free.2016-05-29 17-27-08 Window.png2016-05-29 17-27-23 Window.png

CleanMyMac, as all so called 'performance' or 'cleaning' applications, should not be used.  I strongly urge you to go to the developers web site and use the uninstall the application.  Such applications do not deliver what they promise and can corrupt your MBP.  I do not consider them to be trustworthy.

To get an accurate gauge on the amount of used space on a HDD, click on the HDD icon on the desktop (Usually names McIntosh HD) COMMAND +I which generates this display:

Disk Utility should also provide accurate information.

OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective are also reliable.  Note that ODS and GP calculate sizes in binary and Apple will calculate in decimal.  That will result in Apple sizes to be about 7% greater than binary.

    Ciao.
