Q: Mic not working after 9.3.2

Updated 6 plus to 9.3.2, microphone stopped working for imessage/dictation and Siri.  Voice memo's still work.  I have tried numerous resets holding the home and power buttons, have turned Siri off and on, turned noise cancellation on and off.  Is this a bug with the new update or is something else wrong?  What else can I do?

May want to look at this article for suggestions:  Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

If a forced restart does not help try a System Restore. First backup your device using iTunes. Also import your photos to your computer and copy all important data. Try restoring from backup first and testing it. If it does not help, you may have to restore as New and reconfigure from scratch as the backup could be corrupted. For this reason it is important to have your photos and data saved separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a Restore:

    Hi BigCrash32,

Follow the steps in the following article before continuing with the steps outlined below.

Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

-First, make sure that you have a good internet connection. [ Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support ]

-Dictation and Siri require quite a bit of memory, be sure to double tap home button and swipe up on other Active apps to clear some memory usage. [ Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support ]

-Restart your device (don't use force restart unless you are unable to restart like normal) [ Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support ]

-Make sure you have toggled on Dictation option in Settings → General → Keyboard Scroll down and Toggle ON Dictation.

-If you are still experiencing the issue...Reset Network Settings. Settings General Reset Reset Network Settings. This will reset the iPhone and you will need to sign back into your preferred Wi Fi connection once the iPhone reboots.

-If issue persists, it's possible a setting has been changed at some point that is causing dictation not to work. You can navigate to Settings General Reset Reset All Settings to complete a reset of all device settings, don't worry your content won't be erased. [ More Info: http://www.everythingicafe.com/reset-settings-on-iphone-ipad/ ]

-Check for restrictions under Setting General Restriction Toggle ON Siri & Diction and OFF [ Use Restrictions on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support ]

-If you are trying to access dictation feature on Messages app, then first thing you will need to do is to enter recipient number. Unless and until you don’t do it, dictation icon will stay grayed out. Give it a try by entering recipient number.

-If all of these steps did not work then you can go ahead and make sure you have a backup or create one and then erase your device. ***IT IS IMPORTANT that after you erase you set up as new device and test the issue before you complete the restore from your backup. Do this by choosing Set up As New on Step 5 of the setup. [ How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups - Apple Support ]

    I hope this helps!

My microphone is nonfunctional for phone calls however I am able to have people hear me if I use speakerphone or Bluetooth Siri also works I noticed this problem immediately after updating to iOS 9.3.2.

For the advice of Apple support I did a simple Risa completely turned my phone on and off and on I messed with multiple settings and I did a complete system restore and uploaded a new version of 9.2.3 after restoring my phone to factory settings. Many hours have been spent trying to fix this problem and nothing has worked I know the speaker works and I'm certain it is a software issue. I hope Apple comes up with a fix for this soon

Took the phone into the Apple Store they did an audio test/diagnostic and determined the front mic had gone bad.  They replaced the front display, home button and front mic.  Thanks for all the feedback and help troubleshooting this issue.
