Q: MainStage & 3rd party audio patch change
Hi. I'm looking for some professional MainStage (3.2.4) advice.
Not liking the default MainStage piano sounds, I'm linking to an external midi instrument (Roland's RD-800) and this is working great. My problem is a very noticeable 'stutter' when changing patches (I'm selecting sounds on the Roland using MIDI messages on the MIDI output of the external instrument channel strip).
When I select the patch change, I'm encountering an audio 'glitch;' the previous sound (which I'm sustaining) briefly "double-clicks" at the moment of the change. Despite my best efforts, I can't prevent this. It sounds messy and I cannot perform using MainStage.
Ive tried adjusting the latency settings but this does not seem to have an effect. I've narrowed the error down to the transmission of the 'new' sound from MainStage to the monitor speakers, via the audio interface.
Is there anything that can be done?
Many thanks
MainStage, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Roland RD-800
