Q: Iphone Apps Issue Since 2010 ? No Fix

Why hasnt Apple fixed the issue with apps randomly opening and closing, scrolling through pages, keyboard entering characters and unresponsive, etc...

A search shows that this issue has been occurring since at least 2010 on iphones. I just recieved a replacement 6 last week because the original iphone had all these issues. The response from the community is always the same:

turn on and off

hard reset

delete and reinstall apps

restore

I did all of those steps 50 or more times. The phone was unreliable since i never knew when it would work! I chatted with Support and they recommended bringing it to Apple Genius Bar. I am partially disabled and this is not feasible. I was able to take it to the local Verizon store and described the situation. They were more than professional and had a replacement iphone 6 sent to me.

After activation and backing up from icloud within a day it began the exact behavior only worse! It is virtually unusable.

So whats Apple? Ill be returning this phone as well. I can say i dont think as much as i like the product when working would i buy another iphone. 3 out of 4 iphone ive had have crapped the bed..

So if the problems started after the RESTORE from your iCloud back up was completed, that implies that the Problem is in the data in the BACKUP.  Not necessarily the phone.  Did you try using the device without restoring the backed up data?

This is just a User to User forum, no Apple here. The problem is likely that you restored the backup and it was corrupted thus bringing back the issue. You need to set up your new phone as new, not from backup.

Settings > iCloud > Contacts  to ON. They will sync back after restoring as new.

Photos need to be imported to a computer.

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

    Then restore as new.

On my phone I just have Safari (for bookmarks) and Contacts on. Of course you can do differently if you like. My contacts sync across devices and after restoring as new.

If you don't care about Safari bookmarks then just leave Contacts ON, nothing else. It is very unlikely that the contacts are the cause of your issues. The same goes for importing the photos, they are very unlikely to be a problem. Importing the photos is the best way to safeguard them.

What your describing sounds like a bad digitizer or a bad cable. Surprisingly, a bad cable can cause this while the device is charging.

People recommend those things because they are the first, basic steps in troubleshooting.

I'm also not sure what was wrong with Apple suggesting you take the phone in to be locked at. Had you gone to an Apple Store, rather than a Verizon Store, as you were apparently able to do, you would have had the replacement immediately rather than having to wait for it to be sent to you. If it's happening again, I would take it back and request another replacement.

I doubt you restored the phone, it takes a while to do so. To restore as New you need to follow the instructions here. Please use iTunes to restore.

Disappointing update. after restoring the phone to new phone it again started the bizarre behavior involving the apps. I chatted with apple support via online. after reviewing the scenario and steps taken as well as an online apple diagnostic test they recommended bringing it to Apple. The reason I haven't done that is im partially disabled and unable to to the nearest apple genius bar. The apple tech said it was "false touching" and its a hardware issue NOT a software problem.

Just wondering why this hasn't been addressed by Apple since the internet and this forum is full of the same issue going back 6 years also including the ipad.

My sister from NJ is visiting tomorrow for a few days so I made an appointment on Thursday.

Thank you to everyone who has attempted to help me with this issue. I hope this helps anyone else having the same problem. leave it to me to have 2 phones with the same issue lol!!
