Q: Unable to write IPTC metadata to JPG files

I tried to write IPTC metadata to JPG files and I got

No original files were modified

Aperture was not able to modify one or more original files because they have a format that does not permit modification.

i found some old posts saying this was broken in Lion.

Anyone have any ideas?

I'd only seen metadata export that produced delimited columns in a flat file, so I missed the XMP option. It is good to see that in Photos.app.

I read about the Lightroom import: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/aperture-import-plug-in-lightroom-faq.html. Of course image adjustments aren't imported -- so that's pretty much a deadend. I have thousands of image adjustments.

OTOH i read a post of yours that said Photos.app did poorly with Aperture image adjustments. That does make me cry. Are things any less bad now?

I can only tell from my own library that I migrated.

Adjustments that could be recreated in Photos by using similar adjustments have been migrated fine, but brushed adjustments have been migrated by creating a new master file for the edited versions, and there were quite a few, were the new quasi-masters looked corrupted. I had to revert these to the original versions and start over,

I'm happy I've put the conversion off to either 2017 or 2018 depending on what happens at WWDC.
