I am having problems getting my email on my imac. I can access and receive email on my iphone from the same email service ( twc )

I am having a problem whereas I cant get email on my imac, keeps saying password not verified. Can get my iphone and log in with the very same password that i used on the imac and get my emails with no problem. Dont understand what the issue could be.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Delete the password from Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). While there, Keychain Access menu First Aid.

went to keychain, deleted all references to email. Went to email service, changed password there, came back to mail, entered new password, wont recognize email password. Any more ideas?
