Q: when to use the sleep/wake button?
I'm a bit confused on how to best shut down my 5th Gen iPod touch - IOS 9.3.2 - when I finish a session.
Should I:
- Let it power down on its own?
- Power it down with the Sleep wake button?
What's the "best practice"?
Thank you!

To expand on what tt2 said, if you have the auto-lock set so the screen shuts off after a certain time, or you press the power (sleep/wake button), these both just put it to sleep (lock it), meaning the display is off but the iPod itself is still on. Apps still refresh in the background, your iPod will still download new mail, etc. When you hold down the button until it says "slide to power off" and then slide across the screen, that's a complete shutdown. To turn it back on, you would need to hold the button for a few seconds again, until you see the Apple boot logo.
