You cannot import iMovie projects into FCp. You have send either projects or events from iMovie to FCP. You need a recent version of iMovie to do this.

So it would be the same as yours?

You have to actually open the project. You have to be in the Media panel.

    Ok, It´s my fault.

When install Final Cut, I had open iMovie so this option doen´t appear...

Ok... If "send event to final cut" only send contents (photos, audio and videos) but don´t xport timeline

To xport timeline I have click "send film to final cut" and send projet film to edit but FCPX create two folder (date with film and name with event)

I only want one folder with date for example

IF you want to send a finished project, send just the project and the clips used will go with it. If you want all the media and edit in FCP send the event. If you need to send multiple items consolidate the events in FCP, drag one event into the other.

Ok, I think that understand you.

I want to send project and event from iMovie to FCPX for edit or save all... When I import event and project, move one event into the other so only one event folder (delete empty event). In FCP project and event (all media files) are in same event? In iMovie is event (only media files) and timeline. When you want end of project, only export to a file or social media etc. this is correct?

In this capture, only one event with media files and project to export or edit.

    Captura de pantalla 2016-05-30 a las 23.58.47.png

    Well, my next step:

I want import to FCP all my event and project to erase iMovie library an only use FCP. My questions:

    - When I import content of iMovie (using my last example), where is it save? Or is a temp project?

    - How I save in FCP library all my iMovie project and event? one by one or can I import all in time?

Sorry for my (possible) stupid questions Thanks

In iMovie events are in the media panel, and there is a separate panel for projects. In FCP projects are inside an event. You can edit media into any project in any event within the same library.

When the event or project comes into FCP it's put into a library called Biblioteca iMovie. You can rename it anything you want. If you send more material to FCP it will create another Biblioteca iMovie. If you don't rename it and keep sending to FCP, anything else you sent will be put into an event in that library.

The media will be in both in iMovie and in the FCP library, using a system called hard links, which allow you to duplicate media on the same drive without using twice as much hard drive space. If you delete either library, the media will remain inside the library that remains.

I would send all the events and then all the projects so they're all in events inside the Biblioteca iMovie. Then organize the events and projects as you want. You might want to split the event and projects into multiple libraries.

Ok, this is a great resume! Different organizations

When the event or project comes into FCP it's put into a library

called Biblioteca iMovie. You can rename it anything you want. If you send more material to FCP it will create another Biblioteca iMovie. If you don't rename it and keep sending to FCP, anything else you sent will be put into an event in that library.

Ok understand. If import my "Biblioteca iMovie" from iMovie, always create in FCP one library with same name (Biblioteca iMovie) as long as I change this name in FCP... I only use one library for example "Biblioteca FCPX"

The media will be in both in iMovie and in the FCP library, using a system called hard links, which allow you to duplicate media on the same drive without using twice as much hard drive space. If you delete either library, the media will remain inside the library that remains.

Ok, when import event, both using "hard links" but if I delete event from iMovie, event only stay in FCP.

I would send all the events and then all the projects so they're all in events inside the Biblioteca iMovie. Then organize the events and projects as you want. You might want to split the event and projects into multiple libraries.

I want to import all "Biblioteca iMovie" into the FCP and them, erase "Biblioteca iMovie" from iMovie. I don´t know if is possible import Biblioteca iMovie in one steep... I have more than 100 projects and import one by one It´s more waste time

There is no way to send a library to FCP. If you have that many events and projects in one iMovie library, you should use this as an opportunity to get your media organized into events and projects and libraries. Send to FCP the events and projects that go together. Rename the library. Then send another group of material that belong together, the same production, the same movie, whatever. Then rename that library. Repeat. Soon you'll start having you're media and your productions organized.

    definitely you are right!!

It´s waste time import one by one event and project and start again but It´s a great opportunity to organized all the material and separate by libraries... It´s not end of days jajaja not really problem, only use a little time while I am doing new projects

    Only last question:

Where It save FCP your libraries in HDD? To check that new libraries save it

It's saved wherever the iMovie library is, whatever drive it's on, in whatever folder.

I suppose if I create one library in FCP and them import from iMovie in new library, all contents import, save in FCP in this new library, is this?

You don't import into FCP, so you can't tell it what library to go to. You send from iMovie, and it goes into a new library with the name of the iMovie library it came from. Once it's in FCP you can rename it. If you only have one, giant Biblioteca iMovie, that's the name that it will use every time you send from iMovie.
