Q: error during rendering/encoding

I created a project in iDVD and checked for errors (none). Everything looks good in the Project Info window (all files are present) I previewed all media and everything looks great. However, when I burn the project to DVD, I get a message "ERROR DURING RENDERING/ENCODING" as the menus are being generated. The same thing happens if I just try to save the project as a disc image. How do I proceed?

See Bengt Wärleby's post in this topic: Multiplexing Error.  It covers a multitude of issues which might help you.

Also if you've modified/edited any assets after adding them to the project you should remove them from the project and read them or  start over with a new project and add them.

Thank you for the great advice! First, I removed the "?" from my project title. I started all over again, adding all content (videos and pictures) in a single session and saved the project. My DVD was created and burned with no issues.

FWIW in the future follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:

Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.

Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
