    Hi Sierrafromla,

Take a look at the following article:

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

It's recommended you always keep your device up to date and all apps up to date as well in order to avoid any software issues. Keep in mind that some folks have other factors that play into the device crashing. Maybe their device was not plugged up to power during the update and it died and interrupted causing a restore to need to be completed. It is also common when going a long time without updating your device and then trying to install the latest software that unwelcome software issues can occur.

To make sure you data is safe and you are protected from anything adverse, be sure to backup to iTunes or iCloud. Always remember ;;wheather your device is out of warranty or in warranty AppleCare+ Support will be there to support you with any issues you might have after an iOS update or upgrade.

P.S This is an excellent go-to article about what to do if issues do occur.

Considering the recent problem with the update bricking iPad Pros 9.7, it is best to wait a little to see if anyone is having a problem. After all, it prompted Apple to pull the update.
