Q: No option to change from Portrait to Landscape for printing in Photo

No option to change from Portrait to Landscape for printing in Photo.

I use the latest available software versions and BROTHER J6910DW.

Photo selects landscape by default. Cannot see any option to change orientation.

try in the print window click on custom and enter the photos dimensions for the landscape view - for example if the photo is 4x6 then enter 6x4

Larry, this did not help. I got the photos turned 90 degrees on the page, but still printing in landscape instead of portrait.

I guess I'm confused - the tow previews you show are landscape and appear to show the entire landscape photo in the bottom view - the top view shows a portrait photos with only part of the image

Yes. These are the 2 trials with 6x4 and 4x6.

The issue is that Photo designs to print on portrait format, but after clicking "print" that window appears in landscape.

To switch between portrait in custom layout use the blue double arrow between the aspect ratio size fields.

that wii change the layout of the photos on the sheet of paper.  The orientation of the paper will always remain portrait, but the photos will be rotated.

For me it will look like this, when printing two portray photos side-by-side.

yes, I understand that. This is what I did for the 2 trials above.

But that does not change the orientation of the sheet of paper.

Yours is portrait, mine is landscape. And I have no option to change it

What is the paper size shown in the System preferences > Printers and Scanners, when you select the printer you are using and hover the pointer over the paper size you selected?

All paper sizes shown in my system preferences are portrait and photos is just rotating the layout when printing.

For example, "A4" is showing as a portrait format for me - 210x297:

Did you select a landscape paper format in Photos?  Try a portrait paper format.

    Leonie,

Where do you select landscape vs portrait in Photo?

I can see A4, but nowhere the orientation option. Same thing in System Preference - PRINTERS AND SCANNER .

Where do you select landscape vs portrait in Photo?

You cannot. You have to make sure that A4 is by default portrait.

The System Preferences panel "Printers and Scanners" will show you if A4 is Portrait or Landscape, if you hover over "Default Paper Size", as shown in my screenshot.

This is what I have in System Preferences:

    Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 7.33.15 AM.png

Same as yours. But I cannot find the default orientation. I looked at the printer master setup page, no option either. Normally, paper orientation is chosen in the App that is printing under "PAGE SETUP", but PHOTO does not have this option, and in my case selects Landscape as default instead of Portrait.

Now, I notice that PHOTO selects Landscape regardless the printer I select:

So the issue is not really printer related.

Does it work correctly for landscape photos?

    Or for other photos?

Photos selects landscape or portrait automatically, depending on the orientation of the photo you want to print. This can get messed up, if a photo has two orientation tags. Some applications will add a second orientation tag, for example graphic Converter or Jetphoto.
