User uploaded fileOnyX is a great program that can help automate any number of system tasks without having to turn to Terminal where real errors could occur with a misplaced keystroke.

I have never heard of someone hosing their system running OnyX, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Any program can mess up your OS is you do not know what you are doing.

If you want to remove it, either run the uninstaller (if it comes with one) or use Spotlight to find the files and pref files associated with OnyX. Drag them to the trash and delete them.

I agree with Eric. I've used Onyx for a long time already and have never ran into a problem. Just use caution deleting cache files--especially System and Kernel cache. There is really no need to do it that often unless you're experiencing problems. When you do delete them, your computer will start slow until they rebuild themselves.

alright well i have it downloaded, does it do its
thing automactially?

Not by itself. Go to the 'Maintenance' tab, then under 'Run Maintenance Scripts,' check all three, and click on the 'Schedule' button to set time to run. Besides repairing your permissions periodically, that's about all you need to do.
