4g iPod Shuffle no longer connecting via USB.

Hey guys,

My 4g iPod shuffle is no longer recognised via USB. I've tried updating iTunes, soft-resetting the iPod, using different USB ports on both my Macbook Pro (Mavericks) and iMac (El Capitan). I bought a new USB lead too, to no avail.

The iPod won't show up in System Information or Disk Utility. There's an amber light on it when connected, and it plays absolutely fine when not connected. Any ideas folks? It happened maybe 4 days ago, totally out of the blue after years of working perfectly. Thanks.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
