Q: verification email going to defunct email address

i forgot my Apple ID password and have now been locked out of my account, and unfortunately the verification email seems to be going to an old email address of mine that I no longer have access to (old work email) and, as the security questions were set some time ago, i can no longer remember the correct answers. I've tried calling up apple support and speaking to someone but it proved fruitless, is there anything i can do to retrieve this information or will i need to "reset" and set up a new account to use?

i tried this already. i couldn't remember my apple security questions and as such she wasn't able to help.

If you cannot be verified for ownership of an existing account, you will not be able to recover said account without providing valid information as it was saved on the account in the first place.

Apple also allows for alternative security options for your account when you are setting it up. I recommend two-factor authentication.
