Q: Installing Windows using El Capitan

Problem : I was able to create Windows install USB stick using Boot camp on Mountain Lion. After upgrading to El Capitan, I am unable to create Windows USB stick to boot. Console error message says "5/31/16 12:02:09.133 PM Boot Camp Assistant[1246]: Disk 2 is not SATA or PCI. ". And boot camp shows an error that says "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.".

I have "refind" running on this machine, and have a Ubuntu partition that I am able to boot to and use. But I'm currently stuck on windows installation.

BCA cannot handle a disk, which has been already been partitioned. A 2015 Mac supports installation of W10 using EFI Boot, which can use a GPT partition created by Disk Utility as Free Space. Please try the EFI Boot method.

I have not tried the EFI boot method. Can you please elaborate on that method?

In DU, create a Free Space partition of the size you want Windows to be. Create a USB Installer using Microsoft Media Creation tool (you will need a Windows PC) or use Rufus (or similar tools) to create a Windows 10 USB Installer. Connect the USB installer, reboot and hold Alt/Option key. Select EFI Boot and when prompted for a destination, use the Free Space partition. It will be split into MSR and MSD parts and formatted by the installer as appropriate.

That kinda worked. But the resulting windows was not very usable, no(or wrong) wifi driver or display driver etc.

I removed linux and windows partitions by diskutil command line, ran bootcamp again, had a good win 10 partition. But ubuntu install caused windows not to boot again. Any steps on installing all three on MacBook Pro?
