Why is my watch not responding, blank screen?

If your watch remains unresponsive, next try the following steps:


  • Charge your watch for around 2.5 hours.
  • After charging, if your watch has not already restarted automatically, remove it from the charger and:
    • Try restarting it (by pressing and holding the side button until you see the Apple logo).
    • Next try force restarting it: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for around 10 seconds, until you see the logo.
  • If you see the Apple logo, but the display otherwise remains black after restarting, check whether VoiceOver and screen curtain are turned on:

    On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver > if it is turned on, turn off VoiceOver.

  • If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch checked (if eligible, under warranty):
