27" iMac video card issue

I am a bit frustrated with apple and my iMac, I have had several issues like speakers not working but I ignore those because I can live without that but the one that's disturbing my work is my video card, about 2 yrs ago it was replaced on the programme and I was impressed. Only for a few days ago, it flickered and then went blank and I have been told it's a video card issue once again. Why do I keep having this issue? It's more frustrating that i'm in Nigeria and there's no service centre or apple care contact I can speak with directly. Is anyone having repeated video card issues????

Hello LB910,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are experiencing some issues with video on your iMac where the display has been flickering and showing a blank black screen.

Before having the video card replaced, I suggest a little bit of troubleshooting first to see if we can help to resolve the issue. The following article was written for issues with an external display, but some of the steps here will be relevant for your situation. Please read over and work through the suggested steps from the Adjust video settings section from the following article.

The main steps here I would like you to complete are restarting your Mac in safe mode to reset the display resolution to defaults and resetting your Mac’s NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their defaults.
